EMPHASIS: Troop G Announces Retirement


Captain Billy E. Chadwick, Commanding Officer of Troop G, Willow Springs, announces the following retirement:

Lieutenant David L. Bailey has retired after nearly 30 years of service to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

David began his career with the Patrol on May 1, 1977, as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector in Troop E, Poplar Bluff, stationed in Steele, Missouri. On January 1, 1984, he entered the Missouri Law Enforcement Academy as a member of the Patrol’s 56th Recruit Class. Upon graduation from the academy, Trooper Bailey was assigned to Portageville, Missouri, in Troop E. On July 1, 1986, he transferred to Troop G, Willow Springs, and was assigned to Thayer, Missouri.

In 1994, David was promoted to Corporal and designated the Assistant Zone Supervisor of Zone 6, southern Howell and Oregon counties, and in 1997, he was promoted to Sergeant and designated the Zone Supervisor of Zone 6. His promotion to Lieutenant and assignment to Troop G Headquarters occurred in 2001.

Lieutenant Bailey has a daughter, Robin Pope, and a son, Brandon Bailey, both of West Plains. He also has three grandchildren.

David’s retirement plans include building a new home, raising cattle, and traveling. An avid outdoorsman, he also plans to golf, hunt, and catch up on his fishing.

Everyone at Troop G wishes David the very best in his retirement years.
