EMPHASIS: Troop C Seeking 22 Qualified Candidates To Be Troopers


Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, St. Louis, would like to inform the public of upcoming testing for the position of trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. There are 89 openings statewide, 22 of which will be assigned within the 11-county area of Troop C. The starting annual salary for trooper is $36,408.

Written and fitness testing for the position of trooper will take place at noon, on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Troop C Headquarters, 599 South Mason Road, St. Louis, MO. Troop C is located on U.S. Highway 40 at Mason Road in St. Louis County. (Mason Road is the first exit west of Interstate 270 on U.S. 40) Interested persons are asked to report to Troop C Headquarters to take the 1 1/2 hour written examination. Immediately following the written examination, candidates will participate in the fitness for duty assessment at Christian Brothers College High School, located at 1850 De La Salle Drive, St. Louis, MO. The fitness for duty assessment includes pushups, sit-ups, vertical jump, trigger pull, 1 1/2 mile run, and 300-meter run. The successful candidates will be eligible to continue in the selection process for the 90th Recruit Class, scheduled to begin training at the Patrol Law Enforcement Academy on July 1, 2009.

Prior to testing, interested individuals must apply online at www.motrooper.com. Applicants who have questions regarding the process should call 1-800-796-7000 and speak with a recruiter. The Patrol will offer additional test dates scheduled for October 27 through November 7, 2008, at the Missouri State Highway Patrol General Headquarters in Jefferson City, MO.

Applicants will be notified regarding their eligibility to continue in the Trooper Section Process by November 24, 2008. The remaining phases of the Trooper Selection Process will occur in Jefferson City, MO.
