EMPHASIS: Daviess County Criminal Arrest

On November 6, 2008, at 9:55 a.m., a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper working Interstate 35 in Daviess County made a notable drug seizure.
The northbound 1994 GMC pickup was stopped for a traffic violation, one mile south of Pattonsburg, MO. During the traffic stop, the driver made conflicting statements and troopers asked for permission to search the vehicle. A search of the truck was conducted and nine pounds of marijuana was found in a compartment under the seat. A handgun with two 30-round magazines was also located in the vehicle.
The driver, Dewayne Johnson, of Opelousas, IA, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver (felony) and unlawful possession of a firearm (felony). He is being held currently at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail in Pattonsburg, MO.
Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are assisting in the investigation.
The charges for which the individual has been arrested are a mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
