EMPHASIS: Statewide Crack Down On Drunk Driving, August 31, 2007
Every year intoxicated drivers claim the lives of thousands of innocent people, and ruin the futures for their families. In 2006, 273 persons were killed and 5,157 were injured in alcohol-related crashes. These are senseless acts of violence that affect, those involved, their families, friends, and loved ones. The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes seriously the job of removing intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s roadways in an effort to make Missouri’s roadways safe for all those who travel them.
On August 31, 2007, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop C, St. Louis, along with 36 local police agencies will participate in a statewide effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s roadways. This increased enforcement task will consist of sobriety checkpoints and DWI saturations in various locations in the state of Missouri and the St. Louis area, to remove intoxicated drivers.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol wants to encourage all motorists to assist law enforcement in our efforts to remove intoxicated drivers. If you suspect a motorist of driving while intoxicated, or observe a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner, contact your local law enforcement or the Highway Patrol at 1-800-525-5555 or *55 on your cellular telephone.
