EMPHASIS: Maries County Residents Arrested for Cultivation Of Marijuana

On September 24, 2004, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, with the assistance of the Maries County Sheriff’s Department, Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, Drug Enforcement Administration and the Missouri Department of Conservation, arrested two Maries County residents for various drug related offenses. The arrests were the results of a long-term investigation that began when state troopers determined that both subjects were involved in a large marijuana growing operation in rural Maries County.

Douglas A. Honse, age 37 of Vienna, was arrested at his residence for Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana and Distribution of Marijuana. Following his initial arrest, additional investigation resulted in Douglas Honse also being arrested for Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Curtis D. Honse, age 45 of Vienna, was also arrested at his home for Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana and Distribution of Marijuana. Additional investigation by officers following his initial arrest resulted in Curtis Honse also being arrested for Felony Possession of Marijuana.

Both Douglas and Curtis Honse were incarcerated in the Maries County Jail in lieu of $100,000.00 bond.

The charges for which Douglas and Curtis Honse have been arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
