EMPHASIS: Marionville Police Officer Shot, Two Subjects Killed, Highway Patrol Investigates.
On Today’s date, March 28, 2008, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a Marionville Police Officer shot and killed a subject while responding to a motor vehicle accident and subsequent shooting.
Initial investigation on behalf of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug And Crime Control reveals at approximately 1:00 p.m. today a two-vehicle accident and possible shooting on route ZZ, west of Western Road in Marionville, was reported to the Marionville Police Department. According to witnesses, after the reported accident occurred, a driver from an approaching vehicle stopped to render assistance. Jesse C. Miller, (30) of Marionville, one of the drivers from the initial crash, shot the assisting subject, fatally wounding him. After the shooting, Miller walked eastbound on route ZZ and confronted the Marionville officer with shotgun in hand. The officer commanded Jesse Miller to drop his weapon several times and was shot by Miller, striking the officer in the neck, causing moderate injuries. The officer returned fire, fatally shooting Jesse Miller.
The identity of the driver who stopped to assist is being withheld pending next of kin notification. The Marionville Police Officer was transported to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri. The investigation continues at the direction of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division Of Drug And Crime Control.
