EMPHASIS: News Conference To Kick Off First Ever Krispy Kreme/Cpl. Jay Sampietro Toy Drive.
Captain Randy Beydler, commanding officer, Troop D, Missouri State Highway Patrol announces the kick off of the First Ever Corporal Jay Sampietro Memorial Toy Drive. The fund will be a cooperative effort between the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, The Children’s Miracle Network, and Cox Hospital. The fund is designed to help children who are forced to spend the Christmas holiday season in the hospital. Donated toys will be delivered personally by state troopers to children at Cox Hospital on December 21, 2007.
Toy donations may be made at both Springfield Krispy Kreme Doughnut stores and the Krispy Kreme in Branson, MO. Krispy Kreme will give away a coupon for a free dozen glazed doughnuts for each $10 toy donated during this campaign. The Jay Sampietro Toy drive will conclude on December 12, 2007.
A news conference announcing the kick off of the toy drive will be held at 9 a.m., on Friday, November 16, 2007, at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, located at 3860 South Campbell Ave., Springfield, MO. The death of Corporal Jay Sampietro left a huge void in the lives of friends, co-workers, and family. A toy drive is a great way to remember Cpl. Sampietro. It is hoped this will become an annual event.
“This toy drive will bring some happiness to hospitalized children in the name of Jay Sampietro, and we are very honored to be a part of it,” said Captain Randy Beydler.
