EMPHASIS: Monroe City Resident Arrested For Making A Terrorist Threat

On Sunday, January 13, 2008, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Bartel D. Talton, 24, of Monroe City, Missouri, for making a terrorist threat. The arrest occurred after Talton made a verbal threat to destroy the Monroe City Police Department in the presence of a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, following the arrest of an acquaintance of Talton’s.
Talton was taken to the Monroe County Jail and was held on a 24-hour hold pending issuance of warrants. The Patrol was assisted by the Monroe City Police Department.
The charge for which the individual was arrested is an accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
