EMPHASIS: Results of Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted in Monroe County

Captain John W. Elliott, Commanding Officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint held in Monroe County.

On September 9, 2005, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint in Monroe County.

As a result of the enforcement operation, a total of 13 arrests were made and 17 warnings were issued. Of those arrests, three individuals were arrested for driving while intoxicated, four individuals were arrested for misdemeanor drug offenses, two were cited for seat belt violations, three for other non-moving violations, and one for careless and imprudent driving.

“Without a doubt, removing impaired drivers from our roadways is very important in reducing the number of traffic crashes on our highways,” stated Captain Elliott. “Drinking and driving is a deadly mix that causes many lives to be lost each and every year in Missouri,” the Captain added.
