EMPHASIS: NEWS CONFERENCE: Heavy Equipment Theft Summit.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, (DDCC) along with the Greene County Sheriffs Office will host a heavy equipment theft summit in Springfield, Missouri. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Ramada Oasis Hotel and Convention Center, located at 2546 N. Glenstone. A news conference at the Oasis Convention Center will precede the theft summit at 10:00 a.m. to highlight strategies that will be covered during the meeting.
This summit will bring together law enforcement and the private sector in an attempt to combat the problem of heavy equipment theft. The theft of both construction and agriculture related equipment in Missouri is a costly problem. Law enforcement, equipment owners, dealers, rental companies, auction yards and insurance companies can work together to reduce heavy equipment theft and increase recoveries of stolen equipment.
Representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI, LEEDA), National Insurance Crime Bureau (NCIB), and National Equipment Register (NER), have come together to create a training program that encompasses both investigative and preventative measures.
