EMPHASIS: Highway Dedication for Corporal Henry C. "Hank" Bruns
Captain Duane L. Robinson, commanding officer of Troop H, in St. Joseph, announces that at 1 p.m. on October 20, 2008, a dedication ceremony will take place to rename a portion of U.S. Highway 169 south of King City, MO, as the “Mo. Hwy. Patrol Corporal Henry C. Bruns Memorial Highway”. The dedication ceremony will take place in the King City American Legion building, which is located on U.S. 169 at the south end of King City.
Colonel James F. Keathley, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Capt. Robinson will dedicate the highway. Missouri Representative Jim Guest introduced HB 2360, the legislation making this dedication possible. Rep. Guest will be at the ceremony. District 1 Chief Engineer Don Wichern, Missouri Department of Transportation, will present the new signs to commemorate the highway.
On February 16, 1987, Corporal Henry C. “Hank” Bruns was killed in a traffic crash. The crash occurred on Missouri Highway 6 in Buchanan County when the vehicle in which he was a passenger skidded on the ice-covered road and struck a bridge abutment on the passenger side.
The public is invited to attend this event.
