EMPHASIS: Seizure of Liquid PCP

In a news release dated November 26, 2003, it was reported that a traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 60 pounds of a liquid substance believed to be liquid methamphetamine. The traffic stop took place on November 25, 2003, when a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 70 in Lafayette County.

The liquid substance was sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Criminal Laboratory for evaluation. The substance has been determined to be Phencyclidine (PCP). PCP is a hallucinogen that affects the section of the brain, which controls the intellect and keeps instincts in check.

The seizure of the liquid PCP is the largest recovery in the history of drug interdiction in the state of Missouri, and one of the largest nationally reported seizures of PCP in the last several years. The estimated street value of the PCP seized is $2.1 million.
