EMPHASIS: Pursuit Involving Henry County Jail Escapee Timothy Younce



On December 30, 2004, at approximately 2:23 pm, the Missouri State Highway Patrol received a request from the Kansas Highway Patrol to assist them with a vehicle pursuit that was entering Missouri. The pursuit was northbound on Interstate 435. The pursuit involved a stolen truck. Missouri Troopers set up tire deflation devices on Interstate 435 at 120TH Street. The white truck was able to avoid the tire spikes and continued northbound on Interstate 435. Missouri Troopers became the primary pursuit vehicles at this point. The pursuit continued northbound on Interstate 435 to Interstate 29. The white truck turned south on Interstate 29. As the pursuit continued southbound on Interstate 29, several unsuccessful attempts were made to use tire deflation devices. The suspect vehicle struck a set of tire spikes deployed by Kansas City Police Department on Interstate 29 at 56TH Street. The pursuit continued south on Interstate 29 to U. S. Highway 169. The suspect vehicle turned south onto U.S. 169. At approximately 3:07 pm, Missouri Troopers received information that the driver of the truck might be Timothy Younce. Mr. Younce had escaped from the Henry County jail on December 25, 2004. Missouri Troopers deployed more tire spikes on U.S. 169 at Richards Road. The suspect vehicle struck several spikes and the remaining tires were flattened. The pursuit continued south on U.S. 169. The suspect vehicle was running on the rims at this point. The suspect vehicle turned east onto Interstate 70. The pursuit continued to the 18th Street exit, where the suspect vehicle stopped on the ramp. Mr. Younce was taken into custody at 3:26 pm, without further incident. He was transported by Kansas City Police Department to their jail.



Mr. Younce was being held at the Henry County Jail in Clinton, Missouri. He was being held on assault charges. Mr. Younce was charged with Escape From Confinement and a Parole Violation as well as numerous traffic charges from pursuit.



In addition to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the following agencies took part in the pursuit; Kansas Highway Patrol, Platte County Sheriff’s Department, and Kansas City Police department.



No one was injured in the pursuit. No other vehicles were damaged in the pursuit.



The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
