EMPHASIS: Louisiana Fugitive Arrested In Randolph County
At approximately 2:15 p.m., on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, Christopher G. Holcomb, 30, of Lafayette, Louisiana, was arrested on a felony probation and parole warrant issued by the State of Louisiana, and for felony resisting arrest. Holcomb was the subject of a three day manhunt conducted in Macon and Randolph counties, which began on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Long Branch State Park in Macon County, when a Missouri State Park Ranger determined Holcomb was wanted by Louisiana authorities and Holcomb fled arrest.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday July 27, 2010, the Troop B Headquarters received a telephone call from a citizen who lived in rural Randolph County, approximately two miles northeast of Cairo, Missouri. The caller advised that he had seen a white male subject matching the description of Holcomb near his residence. Officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Missouri State Highway Patrol aircraft, Randolph County Sheriff's Department, and two canine units from the Moberly Police Department immediately responded to the area. At approximately 2:15 p.m., a Moberly Police Canine Unit located Holcomb hiding in a brush pile a short distance from the residence. Holcomb was subsequently taken into custody after a brief struggle and was transported to the Randolph County Jail where he is being held without bond.
During the three day manhunt, law enforcement officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri State Park Rangers, Missouri State Water Patrol, Macon County Sheriff's Department, Randolph County Sheriff's Department, Moberly Police Canine Unit, and Missouri State Highway Patrol Aircraft Division assisted with the search.
The charges for which Holcomb was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
