EMPHASIS: La Plata Resident Arrested for Burglary

On Sunday, March 18, 2007, at approximately 3:15 p.m., members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Macon County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a domestic disturbance and burglary in progress at a residence in La Plata, Missouri. Upon arrival officers made contact with the resident of the property and with a suspect who was identified as Roy T. Cousineau, 38, of La Plata, Missouri, in the front yard area of the residence. An investigation of the incident determined Cousineau had come to the residence to contact a former girlfriend following a domestic incident, which occurred earlier in the day. When occupants of the residence failed to open the door, Cousineau attempted to forcibly gain entry into the house, which lead to a brief physical altercation between the occupants of the residence and Cousineau.
Cousineau was arrested for burglary in the 1st degree, assault, property damage, and driving while revoked. He was taken to the Macon County jail where he was held on a 24-hour hold pending issuance of warrants.
The charges for which Cousineau was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
