EMPHASIS: Results of Sobriety Checkpoint
A total of 6 arrests and 77 warnings were issued as a result of a sobriety checkpoint held in DeKalb County on U.S. 36 highway. The checkpoint was conducted on September 9, 2006, from 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Three summonses were issued for non-moving violations and three misdemeanor criminal arrests were made during the operation. There was no driving while intoxicated arrests made during the checkpoint.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted the checkpoint with the assistance of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.
Captain Johnnie B. Hoggatt stated, “ The Missouri State Highway Patrol utilizes the sobriety checkpoint as an effective tool to combat intoxicated drivers. Our focus is highway safety and the Patrol is very serious about safeguarding the public."
