EMPHASIS: DWI Spotchecks in Kansas City, Missouri

Captain Vincent J. Ellis, Commanding Officer of Troop A, announces two sobriety checkpoints in Kansas City, Missouri. The checkpoints will be a joint effort conducted with the Kansas City Police Department. The checkpoints will take place on May 26, 2006.

The checkpoints are part of the continuing effort by the Highway Patrol to reduce the number of intoxicated drivers on our highways. The checkpoints consist of officers stopping drivers at a set location and testing those who have been drinking.

Captain Ellis stated the goal of the checkpoints is to provide safer travel for the citizens of this state. Removing intoxicated drivers continues to be a high priority for the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
