EMPHASIS: DWI Sobriety Checkpoint In Kansas City

Captain Vincent J. Ellis, commanding officer of Troop A, announces a sobriety checkpoint in Jackson County, Missouri. The checkpoint will be conducted sometime during March as a joint effort with the Kansas City Police Department. Also during the month of March, the Highway Patrol will conduct DWI Saturations in Jackson and Johnson counties.

The checkpoint and the saturations are part of the continuing effort by the Highway Patrol to reduce the number of intoxicated drivers on the highway. The checkpoint consists of officers stopping drivers at a set location and testing those who have been drinking.

Captain Ellis stated the goal of the checkpoint and the saturations is to provide a safer travel for the citizens of this state. Removing intoxicated drivers continues to be a high priority for the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
