EMPHASIS: Troop C Assigns Eight New Troopers
Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, is pleased to recognize the graduation of the Highway Patrol’s 86th Recruit Class. Among the 36 graduating troopers are eight new troopers who will be assigned to the Troop C area. The troopers completed 27 weeks of highly intense training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, MO. After a commencement ceremony on July 13, 2007, the new troopers will head to their new assignments and begin working with a field training officer for approximately three months before working independently.
Thirteen of the new troopers received an associate’s of applied science degree from Mineral Area College based on their course work at the Academy. The new troopers assigned to Troop C and their assignments are as follows:
Trooper Dimechi H. Herring, 28, a native of St. Louis, MO, was assigned to Zone 3, serving South St. Louis County. Tpr. Herring graduated from Althoff Catholic High, in Belleville, IL, and Duquesne University, in Pittsburgh, PA, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Tpr. Herring was a police officer with the Cape Girardeau, MO, Police Department. He is married and the father of three.
Trooper Paul C. Long, 21, a native of Wellsville, MO, was assigned to Zone 5, serving Lincoln/Pike counties. Tpr. Long is a graduate of the Missouri Military Academy, in Mexico, MO. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Tpr. Long was a corrections officer and translator in Montgomery City, MO.
Trooper Garrett J. Loring, 23, a native of Springfield, MO, was assigned to Zone 2, serving North St. Louis County. Tpr. Loring graduated from West Plains High School, in West Plains, MO, and attended Missouri State University, in West Plains/Springfield, MO. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Tpr. Loring was a correctional officer in Springfield, MO. Tpr. Loring is married and currently resides in Springfield, Missouri.
Trooper Ryan J. Marquart, 24, a native of St. Louis, was assigned to Zone 2, serving North St. Louis County. Tpr. Marquart is a graduate of DeSmet Jesuit High, in Creve Coeur, and attended Truman State University, in Kirksville, MO, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business/marketing. Prior to joining the Patrol, Marquart was a sales representative in Maryland Heights, MO. Tpr. Marquart currently resides in Wildwood, MO.
Trooper John P. Masters, 25, a native of Wentzville, MO, was assigned to Zone 9, serving St. Charles County. Tpr. Masters graduated from Wentzville High School in Wentzville, Missouri. He attended the Central Missouri State University, in Warrensburg, MO, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Before joining the Highway Patrol, Tpr. Masters was a graduate student.
Trooper Adam N. Miller, 28, a native of Jackson, MO, was assigned to Zone 4, serving South St. Louis County. Tpr. Miller is a graduate of Jackson High School in Jackson, MO. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Tpr. Miller was a deputy with the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department for five years. Tpr. Miller is married with two children.
Trooper Jared W. Servais, 27, a native of Springfield, MO, was assigned to Zone 10, serving Franklin County. Tpr. Servais is a graduate of Houston High School, in Houston, MO, and attended Missouri State University, in Springfield, MO, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Tpr. Servais, was employed as a corrections officer with the Green County Sheriff’s Department in Springfield, MO.
Trooper Christopher M. Turner, 23, a native of Jacksonville, IL, was assigned to Zone 9, serving St. Charles County. Tpr. Turner is a graduate of A-C Central High School, in Ashland, IL, and Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Tpr. Turner, was a police officer with the Chandlerville Illinois Police Department.
