EMPHASIS: Sobriety Checkpoint To Be Held In St. Louis County
Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces that a sobriety checkpoint will be held in St. Louis County sometime in the month of August 2011. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, in cooperation with other area law enforcement agencies, will conduct the checkpoint.
Sobriety checkpoints are part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways, and are conducted at various locations which have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts and collisions.
Captain Johnson urges the public to report all impaired drivers. “Impaired drivers not only endanger their lives, they also endanger the lives of innocent motorists who travel the highways of Missouri,” states Captain Johnson.
To report unsafe driving, motorists can use the Patrol’s emergency telephone numbers. They are 1-800-525-5555 or cellular *55.
