EMPHASIS: Notable Drug Seizure On Interstate 29


On February 1, 2007, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper stopped a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser on Interstate 29 in Holt County for a traffic violation. A Buick, which was apparently accompanying the PT Cruiser also stopped. The troopers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from both vehicles, and with the assistance of the Troop H canine “Cijo” conducted a search of the vehicles. The search revealed approximately three pounds of marijuana, crack cocaine, ecstasy, and drug paraphernalia.

The driver of the PT Cruiser was identified as Matthew Weldon, 20, of Kansas City, MO. He was charged with possession of ecstasy (a felony) and four misdemeanors: possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to drive within a single lane, and no valid driver’s license.
His passenger in the PT Cruiser was identified as Bryant Moore, 37, of Kansas City, MO. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

The driver of the Buick was identified as Andre Williams, 33, of Kansas City, MO. He was charged with three felonies: possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver, and possession of ecstasy. Williams was charged also with two misdemeanors:
possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding.
The passenger in the Buick, who was identified as Arlene Weldon, 21, of Kansas City, MO. was charged with three felonies: possession of crack cocaine, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, and possession of ecstasy. Weldon was charged also with possession of drug paraphernalia a misdemeanor.

All four suspects were transported to the Holt County Jail.

The charges for which the individuals have been arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
