EMPHASIS: July Fourth Holiday Totals Report Zero Fatalities In Troop D

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the Independence holiday weekend traffic crash report for the Troop D area. During the holiday weekend, troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) and the "20-Mile Trooper" project. The 2011 Independence holiday weekend traffic crash counting period began at 6 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2011, and ended at 11:59 p.m., Monday, July 4, 2011. Troop D officers investigated 40 traffic crashes, in which there were 26 injuries and zero fatalities. In addition, Troop D officers made 22 DWI arrests.

The mission of the Missouri State Highway Patrol is to serve and protect all people by enforcing laws and providing services to ensure a safe and secure environment. I am pleased to announce there were zero fatalities in Troop D over the holiday weekend and I feel our officers accomplished their mission." stated Captain Villanueva.
