EMPHASIS: Announcement of Sobriety Checkpoint to be held in Jefferson County



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, Commanding Officer of Troop C, St. Louis, announces that sometime during the month of September 2004, a sobriety checkpoint will be held in Jefferson County. The checkpoint will be conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in cooperation with other area law enforcement agencies and will utilize the Patrol’s BAT van (Breath Alcohol Testing Vehicle).



"Sobriety checkpoints are an innovative means of detecting and removing the alcohol-impaired driver from our highways,” stated Captain Johnson. “Driving while intoxicated continues to be a major contributing circumstance of traffic crashes in Missouri,” the Captain added.
