JEFFERSON CITY - Director Charles R. Jackson of the Missouri Department of Public Safety announced today that Todd Hurt of Cedar Hill has been appointed Chief of the Missouri Capitol Police effective January 1, 2004.

Hurt has an extensive history of law enforcement. He is a former Capitol Police officer, served in the United States Army as a reservist and then active duty in Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and since 1995 has been with the MO Division of Water Patrol. He is currently serving as the assistant supervisor of the St. Louis area and holds the rank of corporal.

A former resident of Jefferson City, Hurt received his bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University.

“With his diverse background and experience, I feel that Mr. Hurt will certainly be an asset to the Department of Public Safety, the law enforcement community, and the citizens we serve,” Jackson said.
