EMPHASIS: Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest In Bates County


On August 16, 2008, at approximately 6:50 p.m., a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper stopped a 1990 Oldsmobile for a registration violation on Missouri Route J north of Missouri Route F in Bates County.
The driver, Michael D. Santora, 28, of Amsterdam, Missouri, was arrested on an outstanding Bates County felony warrant for resisting arrest. A search of the vehicle incident to the arrest revealed approximately one pound of marijuana. Michael D. Santora was arrested also for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and transported to the Bates County Jail.
The charges for which Michael D. Santora was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
