EMPHASIS: Troop A Promotions
Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, is pleased to announce the following Troop A promotions effective November 1, 2008:
Trooper Brian E. Kelley, of Kansas City, Missouri, was promoted to the rank of corporal and will be designated the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 1, serving Platte County. Kelley was appointed to the Patrol in January 2001, and assigned to Troop H, St. Joseph, serving Buchanan and Andrew counties. In October 2006, Kelley transferred to Troop A, Lee’s Summit, and was assigned to Zone 2, Platte County. Prior to joining the Patrol, Kelley attended Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Kelley worked for the Marceline Police Department and the Moberly Police Department before joining the Highway Patrol.
Corporal Kelley and his wife, Deanna, currently reside in Kansas City, Missouri, with their son, Ethan, 5, and their daughter, Brynn, 8 months.
Corporal Barry A. Kumpf, of Gladstone, Missouri, was promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be designated the zone supervisor of Zone 4, serving Clay County. Kumpf was appointed to the Patrol in January 1995, and assigned to Troop A, Lee’s Summit, serving Zone 3, Clay County. In November 2000, Kumpf was promoted to the rank of corporal and designated as the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 4, Clay County. Prior to joining the Patrol, Kumpf attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business. Kumpf worked for a personal finance company before joining the Highway Patrol.
Sergeant Kumpf and his wife, Laura, currently reside in Gladstone, Missouri, with their children; Sarah, 11, Kaley, 6, and Jayse, 2.
