A2026-02 January 29, 2026 EMPHASIS: Troop A Announces Promotions
Captain Gregory D. Primm, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee’s Summit, announces the following promotions effective February 1, 2026.
Corporal Corey D. Parrott has been promoted to the rank of sergeant and designated the zone supervisor of Zone 13, serving the citizens of Pettis County. Sergeant Parrott was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol on July 5, 2016, as a member of the 103rd Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 12, Johnson County. On May 1, 2019, Parrott transferred to Zone 13. Parrott was promoted to corporal on January 1, 2024, and designated the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 13, where he remained until his promotion.
Sergeant Parrott was born in Columbia, MO. He graduated from Smith-Cotton High School, in Sedalia, MO, in 2007. Before joining the Patrol, he served in the United State Army from 2007 to 2015 before being honorably discharged. Corporal Parrott is currently a member of the Troop A Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). Sergeant Parrott is married and has two children.
Corporal Justin C. Ewing has been promoted to sergeant and will continue to serve as one of Troop A's two public information and education officers. Sergeant Ewing was appointed to the Patrol on July 1, 2013, as a member of the 97th Recruit Class. After completing training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 11, serving Cass County. On June 1, 2020, Ewing was promoted to the rank of corporal and designated as the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 3, Clay County. On July 2, 2023, Ewing transferred to Troop A Headquarters and became a public information and education officer where he will remain.
Sergeant Ewing was born in Springfield, MO. In 2009, he graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield. Before joining the Patrol, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and criminal justice from Southwest Baptist University, in Bolivar, MO, in 2013. Sergeant Ewing is married and has three children.
