EMPHASIS: Captain David E. Earney Retires

Colonel Sandra K. Karsten, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol announces the following retirement effective February 1, 2018:

Captain David E. Earney, director of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO, retires after 32 years of dedicated service.

Earney joined the Patrol on September 1, 1985, as a member of the 57th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 3, Platte County. He was promoted to corporal on June 1, 1993, and sergeant on November 1, 1995. As a sergeant, he was assigned zone supervisor of Troop F, Zone 7, Cooper/Howard counties. Earney transferred to Troop F, Zone 1, Cole/Southern Callaway counties in 2001. He was promoted to lieutenant on November 13, 2005, and assigned to Troop F Headquarters, Jefferson City. Earney was promoted to captain on November 1, 2013, and designated director of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO.

Captain Earney graduated from Boonville R-1 High School in Boonville, MO, in 1982. He studied criminal justice administration and management at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO (now University of Central Missouri). Capt. Earney and his wife, Jodie, have two children, Christopher and Dawson.
