EMPHASIS: Captain Darewin L. Clardy To Retire August 1, 2026

Colonel Michael A. Turner, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the retirement of Captain Darewin L. Clardy effective August 1, 2026, after 33 years of dedicated service.

Clardy joined the Patrol as a member of the 66th Recruit Class on August 1, 1993. Upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 12, Johnson County. Clardy was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 5, Ray & Carroll Counties, on August 1, 1998. He was promoted to sergeant on June 2, 2002, and designated zone supervisor of Zone 5. On June 1, 2009, Clardy was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to Troop F Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO. On June 1, 2019, he was promoted to captain and transferred to the Driver & Vehicle Safety Division where he served as director of the division.

Capt. Clardy grew up in Macon, MO, where he graduated from Macon R1 High School in 1988. He earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO, in May 1992. He graduated from Leadership in Police Organizations training in 2013. Capt. Clardy graduated from the 258th Class of the FBI National Academy. He and his wife, Amy (Weimer), have two grown children.
