Captain Kevin W. Malugen, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the following Troop C promotions effective May 1, 2025:
Trooper Mark D. Benson is being promoted to corporal and will be assigned as the assistant commander in Troop C, Zone 16, serving the citizens of Ste. Genevieve and Perry counties.
Corporal Benson was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol on January 6, 2020, as a member of the 109th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop C, Zone 13, serving the citizens of Jefferson County.
Benson is a native of Fredericktown, MO, and graduated from Fredericktown High School in 2017. He is married and has two children.
Trooper Jared W. Servais is being promoted to corporal and will be assigned as the assistant commander of Troop C, Zone 10, serving the citizens of Franklin County.
Corporal Servais was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol on January 7, 2007, as a member of the 86th recruit class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop C, Zone 10, serving the citizens of Franklin County. In June 2014, Servais was promoted to corporal and was the assistant zone commander in Zone 10. In October 2020, he transferred to the Highway Patrol’s Gaming Division. In March 2024, Servais was assigned to Troop C, Zone 10.
Servais is a native of Huston, MO, and graduated from Houston High School in 1998. After high school, he attended Southwest Missouri State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in crime and society. He is married and has three children.
