EMPHASIS: Lieutenants Edwin A. Blaylock & Darewin L. Clardy Promoted To Captain

Colonel Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following promotions effective June 1, 2019:

Lieutenant Eddie A. Blaylock, Troop C, Weldon Spring, MO, was promoted to captain and designated commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, MO.

Blaylock joined the Patrol as a member of the 77th Recruit Class on March 15, 2000. Upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop C, Zone 12, Jefferson County. On February 4, 2007, he was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 12. Blaylock was promoted to sergeant on April 1, 2011, and designated zone supervisor of Zone 13, Jefferson County. On September 1, 2014, he was promoted to lieutenant and transferred to Troop C Headquarters.

Captain Blaylock grew up in Hillsboro, MO, and graduated from Hillsboro Senior High School in May 1986. From 1987 to 1993, he served in the United States Marine Corps where he was a veteran of the Gulf War. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he served as a Jefferson County deputy for five years. He graduated from Leadership in Police Organizations training in 2015. Capt. Blaylock and his wife, Shael (Cypert), have two grown children, Kassey and Shawn Blaylock, and two grandchildren, Leilani and Aria.

Lieutenant Darewin L. Clardy, Troop F, Jefferson City, MO, was promoted to captain and transferred to the Driver & Vehicle Safety Division where he will serve as director of the division.

Clardy joined the Patrol as a member of the 66th Recruit Class on August 1, 1993. Upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 12, Johnson County. Clardy was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 5, Ray & Carroll Counties, on August 1, 1998. He was promoted to sergeant on June 2, 2002, and designated zone supervisor of Zone 5. On June 1, 2009, Clardy was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to Troop F Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO.

Captain Clardy grew up in Macon, MO, where he graduated from Macon R1 High School in 1988. He earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO, in May 1992. He graduated from Leadership in Police Organizations training in 2013. Clardy graduated with the 258th Class of the FBI National Academy. Capt. Clardy and his wife, Amy (Weimer), have two grown children.
