EMPHASIS:
Results Of Multi-Jurisdictional DWI Checkpoint In Boone County
Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, announces the results of a multi-jurisdictional DWI sobriety checkpoint conducted in Boone County. The checkpoint was conducted from 11:30 p.m. on March 17, 2017, until 3:30 a.m. on March 18, 2017, on Missouri Highway 163 at Mick Deaver Memorial Drive in Boone County. The checkpoint involved the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Boone County Sheriff’s Department, Columbia Police Department, and the MU Police Department.
The Missouri Statewide Traffic Accident Records System (STARS) indicates at least 162 alcohol- or drug-related traffic crashes occurred in Boone County in calendar year 2016, resulting in seven fatalities and 96 injuries. A total of 656 vehicles were checked during this operation. Officers made the following enforcement contacts:
19 -- DWI arrests
4 -- Misdemeanor drug arrests
2 -- Driving while suspended arrests
3 -- Warnings issued
"The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators," said Captain Turner. "The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that it will not be tolerated.”
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
