EMPHASIS: St. Louis Area GVIP Stations Transition To New Software

Captain Lester D. Elder, director of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, would like the public to be aware of the following:

The Gateway Vehicle Inspection Program (GVIP) in the St. Louis area will be unavailable from 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, until 6 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017, because of the transition to new GVIP computer software and equipment. During this time, licensed GVIP inspections stations will not be able to perform safety or emission inspections. GVIP is an emissions testing program for vehicles registered in the St. Louis ozone nonattainment area, which includes St. Louis City, Franklin County, Jefferson County, St. Charles County and St. Louis County.

“We expect this transition to be successful,” said Capt. Elder, “and we appreciate the public’s patience.”
