EMPHASIS: Cpl. Bruce A. Becker Promoted To Sergeant

Captain Larry W. Plunkett Jr., director of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Gaming Division, announces the following promotion effective February 1, 2019:

Corporal Bruce A. Becker, Gaming Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO, was promoted to sergeant and will remain in his present position as assistant officer-in-charge at Ameristar in St. Charles, MO.

Becker was appointed to the Patrol on January 1, 1995, as a member of the 69th Recruit Class. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop C, Zone 5, Pike and Lincoln counties. He transferred to the Gaming Division, General Headquarters, in April 2004. In May 2006, Becker was promoted to the rank of corporal and designated assistant officer-in-charge at Ameristar in St. Charles. While serving in the Gaming Division, he has worked at the Ameristar in St. Charles; President Casino in St. Louis; and Harrah's Casino in Maryland Heights, MO.

Becker grew up in Centralia, IL, and graduated from Centralia High School in 1988. He served in the Illinois National Guard from 1987 to 1995, fulfilling assignments in Salem, IL; West Frankfort, IL; and Marion, IL. He attained the rank of first lieutenant in the Illinois National Guard. Becker then served in the Missouri National Guard from 1995 to 2018, and earned the rank of lieutenant colonel. While with the Missouri National Guard, he was assigned to Fulton, MO; St. Clair, MO; Centertown, MO; Columbia, MO; Kansas City; and St. Joseph, MO. Since 2018, he has held the rank of colonel and served as a civil affairs officer in the U.S. Army Reserves assigned to Fort Meade, MD.


Sergeant Becker earned an Associate of Applied Science in administration of justice from Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL, in 1990. He earned a Bachelor of Science in law enforcement administration from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, in 1992. In 2000, Becker earned a Master of Science in criminal justice from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. He graduated from the Leadership in Police Organization training in February 2017. Sgt. Becker is married to LaNae (Dagit) Becker.
