EMPHASIS: Ten New Troopers Assigned To Troop C

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, is pleased to announce 10 new troopers have been assigned to Troop C. The new troopers were members of the Patrol’s 103rd Recruit Class, which graduated on December 30, 2016. The troopers completed 26 weeks of intense training at the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, Missouri. The new troopers will report to their assignments on January 17, 2017. They will work with a field training officer for approximately three months before working independently. The new troopers’ assignments are as follows:

Trooper David A. Crowell, 30, a native of Byrnes Mill, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 12, serving Jefferson County. Trooper Crowell is a graduate of Andress High School in El Paso, Texas. He attended Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. Prior to joining the Patrol, Trooper Crowell worked as a resource technician for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (Missouri State Parks) in Festus, Missouri. Trooper Crowell married to Mary (Dougherty) and they have one child, Rose (1).

Trooper Michael L. Crutcher, 25, a native of Wentzville, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 9, serving St. Charles County. Trooper Crutcher is a graduate of Timberland High School in Wentzville, Missouri. He attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, where he graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in criminology. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Trooper Crutcher worked as a special assistant for the State Emergency Management Agency in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Trooper Jeffery G. Durbin, 24, a native of Monroe City, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 7, serving Warren County. Trooper Durbin is a graduate of Monroe City High School in Monroe City, Missouri. He graduated from Moberly Area Community College Law Enforcement Training Center in Moberly, Missouri. He then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, where he studied psychology. Prior to joining the Patrol, Trooper Durbin worked as a deputy sheriff for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.

Trooper Benjamin S. Giesler, 27, a native of Farmington, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 14, serving St. Francois and Washington counties. Trooper Giesler is a graduate of Fox High School in Arnold, Missouri. He attended Jefferson College in Arnold, Missouri, where he graduated with an associate degree in general education. Prior to joining the Patrol, Trooper Giesler worked as an emergency medical technician for St. Anthony’s Medical Center. Trooper Giesler is married to Jennifer (Bischoff).

Trooper Callie A. Judy, 24, a native of Columbia, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 7, serving Warren County. Trooper Judy is currently attending Columbia University in Columbia, Missouri, where she is pursuing her degree in criminal justice. Prior to joining the Patrol, Trooper Judy worked as a photographer for Joe Machens Toyota in Columbia, Missouri. Trooper Judy is married to Mr. Cameron Volle.

Trooper Jacob M. Langley, 23, a native of Nixa, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 10, serving Franklin County. Trooper Langley is a graduate of Nixa High School in Nixa, Missouri. He attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, where he graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in justice systems. Prior to joining the Patrol, Trooper Langley worked as a cook for Ruby Tuesday in Kirksville, Missouri.

Trooper Daniel C. Mahalik, 32, a native of Crystal Lake, Illinois, has been assigned to Zone 7, serving Warren County. Trooper Mahalik attended College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Prior to joining the Patrol, Trooper Mahalik served as a firefighter/medic for the United States Marine Corps. Trooper Mahalik also worked as an engineer for BNSF Railway Company in Minot, North Dakota. Trooper Mahalik has two children, Hayden (7), and Madison (6).

Trooper Marsalis Sherod, 29, a native of Florissant, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 9, serving St. Charles County. Trooper Sherod is a graduate of Rolla High School in Rolla, Missouri. He is currently attending Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri, where he is pursuing a degree in criminal justice administration. Prior to joining the Patrol, Trooper Sherod served as a CBRN Specialist in the Army National Guard and served on the Army National Guard’s Funeral/Honor Detail. Trooper Sherod also worked as a driver examiner for the Missouri State Highway Patrol before becoming a trooper.

Trooper Michael T. Soriano, 27, a native of Collinsville, Illinois, has been assigned to Zone 10, serving Franklin County. Trooper Soriano is a graduate of Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois. He attended Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Prior to joining the Patrol, Trooper Soriano worked as a deputy sheriff for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department in Edwardsville, Illinois. Trooper Soriano is married to Melissa (Berney).

Trooper Andrew M. Warren, 21, a native of Ironton, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 19, serving Lincoln and Pike counties. Trooper Warren is a graduate of Arcadia Valley High School in Arcadia, Missouri. He attended Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois, where he graduated with an associate degree in criminal justice. Prior to joining the Patrol, Trooper Warren served as an engineer equipment mechanic in the United States Marine Corps. Trooper Warren also worked as a cottage parent for the Salem4Youth organization in Flanagan, Illinois.
