EMPHASIS: New Trooper Assigned to Troop C

Captain Stephen B. Ferrier, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the assignment of five new troopers to Troop C. The new troopers were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 109th Recruit Class that began training on January 6, 2020 and graduated from the Patrol Academy on June 26, 2020. The new troopers from the 109th Recruit Class will report for duty on July 13, 2020.

Trooper Ryan J. Steele, a native of Ironton, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 10, serving the citizens of Franklin County. Trooper Steele is a 2009 graduate of Arcadia Valley High School in Ironton, Missouri. From October 2009 until October 2013, Trooper Steele Served in the United Stated Marine Corps as a collateral duty inspector and avionics technician. Trooper Steele is married to Vera Lois-Chamberlain Steele and they have one daughter, Kayla. Trooper Steele’s training officer is Trooper Brant W. Masek.

Trooper Zachary C. Crumley, a native of Benton, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 11, serving the citizens of Franklin County. Trooper Crumley is a 2017 graduate of Thomas W. Kelly High School in Benton, Missouri. After high school, Trooper Crumley attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Trooper Crumley’s training officer is Corporal Catherine M. Bishop.

Trooper Curtis L. Schilling, a native of Jackson, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 8, serving the citizens of St. Charles County. Trooper Schilling is a 2015 graduate of Jackson High School in Jackson, Missouri. From 2014 until 2020, Trooper Schilling served in the United States Army as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and a petroleum supply specialist. Trooper Schilling is married to Casey Schilling. Trooper Schilling’s training officer is Corporal Donald L. Bilyeu.

Trooper Mark D. Benson, a native of Fredericktown, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 13, serving the citizens of Jefferson County. Trooper Benson is a 2017 graduate of Fredericktown High School in Fredericktown, Missouri. After graduation, Trooper Benson attended Mineral Area College and received an Associate of Arts in 2019. Prior to his appointment to the Highway Patrol, Trooper Benson served Missouri as a corrections officer at the Eastern Regional Diagnostic Correctional Center in Bonne Terre, Missouri. Trooper Benson has a daughter named Paisley. Trooper Benson’s training officer is Trooper Trevor H. Elliston.

Trooper Daniel M. Bochucinski, a native of Plainfield, Illinois, has been assigned to Zone 19, serving the citizens of Lincoln and Pike Counties. Trooper Bochucinski is a 2014 graduate of Plainfield North High School in Plainfield, Illinois. After graduation, Trooper Bochucinski attended Joliet Junior College, in Joliet, Illinois and received an Associate of Arts in 2016. He then began working on his bachelor’s degree at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. Trooper Bochucinski’s training officer is Corporal Matthew G. Kettenbach.

Far too many people die in traffic crashes each year in Missouri. The choices you make when you’re behind the wheel matter. Make good choices, so you’ll never have to say, “If I could just go back ...”
