EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Enforcement Totals From Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Operation

Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that a commercial motor vehicle special enforcement operation was held in Troop I from October 1-5, 2018. The operation focused on commercial motor vehicles operating in Phelps, Pulaski, and Laclede counties. Eight commercial vehicle enforcement troopers and two commercial vehicle officers from various locations of the state participated in this operation. During the five-day operation, these 10 officers stopped and inspected 175 commercial motor vehicles. The inspections revealed 356 violations. Twenty-four unsafe vehicles and 15 drivers were removed from the roadway and placed out-of-service for critical safety violations. CVETs and CVOs issued 35 uniform citations for various violations such as driver’s licenses, logbooks, overweight, defective equipment, and failing to wear a seat belt.

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
