Troop C Announces Promotions
Captain Kevin W. Malugen, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces effective October 1, 2024, Corporal Andrew L. Bryan and Corporal Zachary C. Kral have been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Bryan will remain within his current assignment as a Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Trooper, and Kral will be designated the zone supervisor of Zone 13, serving the citizens of Jefferson County.
Bryan was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol on January 1, 1996, as a member of the 71st Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop F, Zone 9, Montgomery County. On February 1, 1999, Bryan transferred to Troop B, Zone 8, serving Marion and Ralls Counties. On October 19, 2003, Bryan was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor, remaining in Zone 8, Marion and Ralls Counties. On February 1, 2020, he transferred to Troop C as a Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Trooper.
Sergeant Bryan was born in Mexico, MO. He graduated from Paris R II High School, in Paris, MO, in 1990. In 1995, Sergeant Bryan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia College, in Columbia, MO.
Kral was appointed to the Patrol on July 1, 2010, as a member of the 92nd Recruit Class. Upon graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop C, Zone 1, serving North St. Louis County. On July 1, 2021, he was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor in Zone 2, continuing to serve North St. Louis County.
Kral was born in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Glendale High School, in Springfield, MO, in 2004. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Military Science and Hospitality from Missouri State University, in Springfield, MO, in 2009. He was a Captain in the United States Army National Guard where he served from 2006 to 2020.
