EMPHASIS: Major Luke Vislay Retires

Colonel J. Bret Johnson superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces that effective January 1, 2017, Major Luke Vislay, commander of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, is retiring after 30 years of dedicated service.

Major Vislay was appointed to the Patrol on August 3, 1986. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, his first assignment was to Troop F, Zone 9, Hermann, MO. In 1987, Vislay transferred from Troop F to the Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC), General Headquarters. In 1991, he returned to Troop F, Zone 9. He was promoted to corporal in 1993, and designated assistant zone commander of Zone 2, Cole/Callaway counties. He was promoted to sergeant in 1996, and designated zone commander of Osage and Gasconade counties. After completing an internship in 1997, Vislay transferred to DDCC, General Headquarters, as a criminal investigator. He was promoted to lieutenant in August 2002, and designated assistant director of DDCC. In September 2006, Vislay was promoted to the rank of captain and designated director of DDCC. He was promoted to the rank of major and designated commander of the Criminal Investigation Bureau in March 2010.
