EMPHASIS: Sgt. Darron F. Blankenship, Sgt. Jason J. Cluver Promoted

Colonel Sandra K. Karsten, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following promotions effective November 1, 2017:

Sergeant Darron F. Blankenship is being promoted to lieutenant and designated as an assistant director of the Division of Drug and Crime Control, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO.

Blankenship joined the Patrol on February 1, 1998, as a member of the 75th Recruit Class. Upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 7, Jackson County. He transferred to Zone 6, Jackson County, on February 2, 2003. On September 1, 2003, Blankenship transferred to the Division of Drug and Crime Control, General Headquarters. He graduated from the Polygraph Examiner’s Course, Canadian Police College, Ontario, Canada, in 2005. He was promoted to corporal on May 28, 2006, and to sergeant on January 1, 2009, and remained in the Division of Drug and Crime Control.

Lieutenant Blankenship grew up in Blue Springs, MO, and graduated from Blue Springs High School. After high school, Blankenship served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1988 to 1990. Prior to joining the Patrol, he served as a police officer with the Grain Valley, MO, Police Department. He earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Park College in Parkville, MO. Lt. Blankenship and his wife, Kelly, have three children, Shae, Brady, and Colvin.

Sergeant Jason J. Cluver is being promoted to lieutenant and assigned to the Professional Standards Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO.

Cluver joined the Patrol on February 1, 1998, as a member of the 75th Recruit Class. Upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop E, Zone 13, Madison & Iron counties. In 2003, he transferred to Troop F, Zone 1, Cole & Callaway counties. Cluver was promoted to corporal and assigned to Troop F, Zone 7, Cooper & Howard counties, on November 13, 2005. He transferred to Zone 12, Gasconade & Osage counties on February 5, 2006. On March 1, 2008, he transferred to Zone 1, Cole & Callaway counties. Cluver was promoted to sergeant on July 1, 2011, and assigned to Zone 9, Montgomery County.

Lieutenant Cluver grew up in Decatur, IL. He graduated from Warrensburg-Latham High School in Warrensburg, IL. Cluver earned a Bachelor of Science in law enforcement and justice administration from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, in 1997. He completed Leadership in Policing Organizations in 2017. Lt. Cluver and his wife have three children.
