EMPHASIS: St. Charles County Man Arrested For Enticement Of A Child

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control announces the arrest of Gregory G. Ortlip, 56, of O’Fallon, Missouri, for enticement of a child of less than 15 years of age. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office, members of the Division of Drug and Crime Control’s Digital Forensics Investigative Unit, Interdiction for Protection of Children (IPC)/Human Trafficking Unit, the Missouri Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Missouri Digital Forensic Center.
Ortlip was arrested on Thursday, August 26, 2021, in St. Louis County, Missouri. Prior to Thursday, investigators were contacted by the Kentucky Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force of the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office. Kentucky investigators informed the Patrol’s Digital Forensics Investigative Unit and Interdiction for Protection of Children (IPC)/Human Trafficking Unit they had a criminal investigation involving Ortlip.
Patrol investigators contacted Ortlip Thursday in Maryland Heights, Missouri, and executed a search warrant. As a result of their investigation, Ortlip was arrested and transported to the St. Charles County Detention Center. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office formally charged Ortlip with one count of enticement or attempted enticement of a child of less than 15 years of age. Bond was set at $100,000. The St. Charles County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and the Maryland Heights Police Department assisted the Patrol with the investigation.
The Division of Drug and Crime Control encourages Internet users to promptly report to the Patrol or local law enforcement anyone who attempts to engage in unwanted, inappropriate, or sexualized communications with children. The Missouri Digital Forensic Center is a joint effort of the Missouri Department of Public Safety, Missouri Department of Social Services, and the Missouri National Guard Counterdrug Program, and is coordinated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The above charge is mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of this charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
