EMPHASIS: Lieutenant Steven B. Johnson Promoted

Colonel Michael A. Turner, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the promotion of Lieutenant Steven B. Johnson, effective September 1, 2026. Lt. Johnson will be promoted to the rank of captain and will remain assigned to the Field Operations Bureau.

Johnson was appointed to the Patrol on January 7, 2007, as a member of the 86th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, his first assignment was to Troop F, Zone 8, Callaway County. He was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Troop F, Zone 8, Callaway County, on October 1, 2012. He transferred to Troop F, Zone 13, criminal interdiction, on February 1, 2014. Johnson was promoted to sergeant on May 1, 2015, and remained in Zone 13. On October 1, 2022, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned to the Field Operations Bureau, General Headquarters, Jefferson City.

Captain Johnson is a 2004 graduate of Jefferson City High School, Jefferson City, MO. He attended Truman State University, in Kirksville, MO. In 2007, he earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Mineral Area College in Parks Hills, MO. He completed IACP’s Leadership in Police Organizations training in 2017. Capt. Johnson is married to Jordi Johnson, and they have two children, Delaney and Crew.
