EMPHASIS: Lt. Brian L. Daniel Promoted

Colonel Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following promotion:

Lieutenant Brian L. Daniel is being promoted to the rank of captain and designated director of the Research and Development Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, effective October 1, 2022.

Daniel was appointed to the Patrol on February 1, 1998, as a member of the 75th Recruit Class. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 13, Pettis County. On February 9, 2003, he was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 13. On February 5, 2006, Daniel was promoted to sergeant and designated supervisor of Troop A, Zone 16, Benton County. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned to the Field Operations Bureau, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, effective July 1, 2014.

Captain Daniel was born in Springfield, MO. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in Springfield in 1990. He graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He completed IACP’s Leadership In Police Organizations Training in 2013. Capt. Daniel and his wife, Erica, have three children: Lathon, Owen, and Ella.
