EMPHASIS:
Sergeant Nicholas D. Berry Retires
Captain Erik A. Gottman, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces effective March 1, 2023, Sergeant Nicholas D. Berry will retire with over 28 years of dedicated service.
Berry was appointed to the Patrol on November 1, 1994, as a member of the 68th Recruit Class.
After graduating from the Patrol Academy, he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 9, Marion and Ralls counties. On February 1, 2001, Berry was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 5, Adair and Schuyler counties. On October 1, 2008, he was promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor of Zone 10, Randolph and Monroe counties.
During his career, Berry was assigned to several notable assignments and was recognized on numerous occasions for his hard work and dedication. Some of the honors include the Benjamin Oliver Booth Officer of the Year Award (2004), Meritorious Service Award (2013), Career Milestone Award (2020), Lifesaving Award (2000), DPS Employee of the Month (November 2020, April 2013), and Missouri State Employee of the Month (May 2013).
Sergeant Berry is a native of Ferguson, Missouri, and graduated from
Hazelwood West
High School in Hazelwood, Missouri. Berry also attended Troy University, in Troy, AL, and served in the United States Army before joining the Patrol.
