EMPHASIS: Troop B Promotion and Transfer Effective June 1, 2026
Captain Erik A. Gottman, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the following promotion and transfer effective June 1, 2026.
Trooper Zachary S. Horrell is promoted to the rank of corporal and designated as the assistant zone commander of Zone 6, serving the citizens of Scotland and Clark counties. Horrell was appointed to the Patrol on July 1, 2019. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 6.
Corporal Horrell is a native of Cape Girardeau, MO, and graduated from Cape Central High School. Prior to his appointment to the Patrol, he attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, where he received a Bachelor of Science Construction Management.
Corporal Riley D. Johnson transferred from Troop B, Zone 6, Scotland and Clark counties to Troop B, Zone 2, Macon and Shelby counties.
Cpl. Johnson was appointed to the Patrol on January 1, 2017, and after graduating from the Patrol Academy, was assigned to Troop E, Zone 9, New Madrid and Pemiscot counties. On November 1, 2019, Johnson transferred to Troop B, Zone 9, Marion and Ralls counties. On August 1, 2021, Johnson transferred to Troop B, Zone 5, Adair and Schuyler counties. On June 1, 2023, He was promoted to the rank of corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 6.
Cpl. Johnson is a native of Kirksville, MO, and graduated from Kirksville High School. Prior to his appointment to the Patrol, he attended Moberly Area Community College in Kirksville, where he graduated with his Associate of Arts in General Studies. Cpl. Johnson served honorably in the United States Army Reserves as a military police officer from 2013-2021.
