EMPHASIS:
Troop B Christmas And New Year's Enforcement And Traffic Crash Totals
Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the traffic crash and enforcement totals for both the Christmas and New Year’s counting periods for the Troop B area.
During the Christmas counting period, which began at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016, and ended 11:59 p.m., on Monday, December 26, 2016, Troop B officers investigated five traffic crashes, which resulted in two injuries and one fatality. The fatality traffic crash occurred on December 23, 2016, in Chariton County. Eight arrests for driving while intoxicated were made during the holiday period.
During the New Year’s counting period, which began at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016, and ended 11:59 p.m., on Monday, January 2, 2017, Troop B officers investigated 10 traffic crashes, which resulted in two injuries. Troopers also made six arrests for driving while intoxicated during the holiday period.
“Even though the holiday season has concluded,” said Capt. Wilt, “I urge motorists to always take the job of driving seriously, and always ensure everyone in your vehicle is wearing a seat belt.”
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
