EMPHASIS: Inmate Escapes From MoDOT Work Crew -- BACK IN CUSTODY
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on March 22, 2017, an inmate from the Missouri Department of Corrections fled from a MoDOT work crew in Willow Springs, Missouri. Jason Butler, 36, was described as a white male 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds, and has brown hair. He was wearing a brown coat and gray prison uniform. His direction of travel was unknown. Residents were encouraged to remove the keys from their vehicles and keep their doors locked.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri Department of Corrections, Howell County Sheriff’s Office, and Willow Springs Police Department took part in the search. A local firefighter sighted Butler and contacted law enforcement. Butler was taken into custody without incident.
