EMPHASIS: Traffic Stop In McDonald County Results In Drug Arrests

On September 25, 2008, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper stopped the driver of a southbound Mercury Villager on U.S. 71 in McDonald County for a traffic violation. The stop and subsequent investigation resulted in the discovery of a methamphetamine lab in the rear of the vehicle and the arrest of three individuals.

At approximately 11:55 p.m., the driver of a 1996 Mercury Villager bearing Missouri license plates was stopped near the interchange of U.S. 71 and Missouri Route EE for a registration violation. Following a conversation with the three occupants, the trooper asked for consent to search the vehicle, which was granted. The search revealed a methamphetamine lab in the rear of the vehicle and a small amount of methamphetamine.

The driver, Jeffrey L. Vaughan, 33, Webb City, MO, along with passengers, Jennifer Y. Bradley, 41, Webb City, MO, and Sylvia L. Isley, 49, Springdale, AR, were arrested for manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. All three were transported to the McDonald County Jail, in Pineville, Missouri.

The charges for which Jeffrey L. Vaughan, Jennifer Y. Bradley, and Sylvia L. Isley were arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented in a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
