EMPHASIS: Sergeant Andrew J. Bell Promoted to Lieutenant

Captain Steve Wilhoit, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee's Summit, announces effective November 1, 2024, Sergeant Andrew J. Bell will be promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned to Troop A Headquarters.

Bell was appointed to the Patrol on October 20, 2002, as a member of the 80th Recruit Class. Upon graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 11, Cass County. On December 1, 2005, he transferred to Zone 7 in Jackson County. On December 1, 2007, Bell was promoted to corporal and transferred to Zone 8, serving the citizens of Lafayette County. On May 1, 2010, Corporal Bell was promoted to sergeant and transferred to Zone 7, Jackson County, and designated as the zone supervisor. On November 1, 2010, Bell transferred from Zone 7 to Zone 11, Cass County, and designated as the zone supervisor. On May 1, 2019, Sergeant Bell transferred to the Public Information and Education Division assigned to Troop A Headquarters where he remained until his promotion.

Lieutenant Bell was born in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Camdenton High School in Camdenton, MO, in 1995. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational communications from Missouri State University, in Springfield, MO, in 1999. Prior to joining the Patrol, Lieutenant Bell was a Patrol Officer with the Missouri State Water Patrol from 2000 to 2002 assigned to Lake of the Ozarks. Lieutenant Bell is a 2013 graduate of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police Organizations training course and is a certified instructor for Police Leadership: The West Point Model. Lieutenant Bell is married and has one child.
