EMPHASIS: Troop G Announces Promotions and Transfers
Captain Garrett J. Loring, commanding officer of Troop G, Willow Springs, announces the following promotions and transfers effective July 1, 2026.
Corporal Johnathan R. Roberts will be promoted to the rank of sergeant and will remain in his current assignment as a marine operations trooper.
Roberts began his law enforcement career on December 1, 2007, as a member of the 35th Water Patrol Class. He was appointed to the Highway Patrol on January 1, 2011, and was assigned to Zone 5, Douglas and Ozark counties. In 2015, he transferred to marine operations where he was promoted to corporal on September 1, 2017.
Sergeant Roberts is a native of Ellington, MO, and graduated from Ellington High School. He attended Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, MO, where he earned an associate degree. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Hannibal LaGrange University in Hannibal, MO.
Corporal Jonathan M. Heimsoth will be promoted to the rank of sergeant and designated zone supervisor in Zone 8, Carter and Reynolds counties.
Heimsoth was appointed to the Patrol on April 2, 2012, as a member of the 95th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop G, Zone 6, Southern Howell and Oregon counties. On August 1, 2020, Heimsoth was promoted to corporal and assigned assistant zone supervisor of Zone 8. In 2022 Heimsoth transferred to marine operations.
Sergeant Heimsoth is a native of Sedalia, MO, and a graduate of Smith Cotton High School. He attended State Fair Community College, Sedalia, MO, and the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO. Sgt. Heimsoth served as an infantryman with the United States Marine Corps for four years and obtained the rank of corporal.
Sergeant Christopher A. Kimes will transfer from Troop G, Zone 4, Northern Howell and Shannon counties to Troop G, Zone 6, Southern Howell and Oregon counties.
Sgt. Kimes was appointed to the Patrol on January 7, 2007, as a member of the 86th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop I, Zone 7, Dent County, where he served until transferring to Troop G, on September 1, 2010. In Troop G, he was assigned to Zone 7, Southern Howell and Oregon counties. On June 1, 2022, Kimes was promoted to the rank of corporal and designated the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 4, Northern Howell and Shannon counties. Kimes was promoted to sergeant on December 1, 2023, and became the zone supervisor of Zone 4.
Sgt. Kimes is a native of West Plains, MO, and a graduate of West Plains High School. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO.
Sergeant Matthew J. Chastain will transfer from Troop G, Zone 8, Carter and Reynolds counties to Troop G, Zone 4, Northern Howell and Shannon counties.
Sgt. Chastain was appointed to the Patrol on January 2, 2017. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop G, Zone 4. On June 1, 2022, Chastain was promoted to the rank of corporal and designated the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 8. Chastain was promoted to sergeant on July 1, 2023, becoming the zone supervisor of Zone 8.
Sgt. Chastain is a native of Marshfield, MO. He is a graduate of Conway High School and attended College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice.
